2015 - 2016 work

 

These paintings immediately assert that they are in fact more than just landscapes even though the land is the central theme to his work. Berry has taken this conventional genre and pushed it into a more unconventional realm. A realm where strokes of color intermingle with expressive brushwork, where horizons share the space with other lines of color that both separate and yet somehow unite the painting. He has created a new visual language for his paintings, a language of seemingly disparate components that somehow coalesce into these compelling provocative landscapes.
